Making Money by doing nothing

Blog Image:

I finally found a way to do what politicians have been doing for years – how to make money by doing nothing. It’s so simple.

You’ve all seen the stuff in the newspaper about saving the environment by cutting down on carbon dioxide in the air. Guess what – that carbon is the best thing since sliced bread! It’s a real money maker.

Markets are being set up everywhere so companies can buy and sell ‘carbon credits’ for things they do to reduce carbon dioxide. They can also sell credits by doing nothing, like not cutting down trees, because trees eat carbon dioxide.

This is where I can cash in. If I promise never to cut the grass in my back yard, whatever grows there will eat up more carbon dioxide and help save the world. I should be able to sell my carbon credits and earn some cash. Maybe I can get a credit for the gas that my lawnmower doesn’t use.

It’ll be hard not to mow the lawn, but what the heck; it’s to make a better world.

Now all I have to do is to figure out how much carbon dioxide I won’t produce by not mowing the lawn and then find someone ready to buy my credit.

I talked to this guy who used to work at some big bank called Enron and he say’s he’s done this sorta stuff before. No problem.

get your neighbours involved

I think you could get your whole neighborhood involved. Like a carbon offset commune.
